The family gathered around his bed trying to make his last journey comfortable.
They tried giving him some warm milk to drink but he refused it.
One of the sons took the glass back to the kitchen and remembering a bottle of whiskey received as a gift, he opened it and poured a generous amount into the warm milk.
Back at his father’s bed, he held the glass to his lips.
The old man drank a little.
Then a little more.
Before they knew it, he had drunk the whole glass down to the last drop.
“Dad,” the son asked the father earnestly,
“Please give us some advice before you die.”
