Ethel was a 75-year-old spinster, she lived alone in a rundown house in a not very nice part of town, her only companion was her old cat called George:
Her days were spent, trying to shop for bargains to eke out her meager pension and going to church.
She had been an only child, and instead of getting married, she had cared for her elderly parents until they had both passed away, leaving her alone and friendless at 47.
On Christmas eve, she sat huddled in front of her tiny fire, wrapped in blankets, trying to keep warm, Her cat George was cuddled up on her lap and they were sharing body heat, her breath was a white mist in the chilly air.
There was a flash of light and a fairy stood before her, it spoke.
“Ethel, you are a good kind woman, I am here to grant you three wishes.”
Ethel thought and said. “I wish I was young again.”
The fairy waved her wand and Ethel was turned into a beautiful, blonde 21-year-old woman.
The fairy asked for Ethel’s second wish. Ethel said. “I wish I had a big house and plenty of money.”
The fairy waved her wand and the rundown house changed into a large mansion house with acres of landscaped grounds.
The rooms were full of antique furniture, massive log fires burned in the fireplaces.
The fairy asked for Ethel’s third and final wish. Ethel said.
“I wish my cat George was my human companion.”
The fairy waved her wand and George was transformed into a 6ft 2in Adonis, with jet black hair, a gleaming white smile and a set of Abs you could scrub washing on.
The fairy smiled at the two of them and said.
“Enjoy your new lives.” And vanished.
George took Ethel in his arms and said.
“I bet you are sorry you got me doctored, aren’t you.?”
